WOWOW selects Barnfind’s BarnOne for 4K transmission

JAPAN: Japanese satellite broadcaster WOWOW has announced that it broadcast two live sporting events in 4K recently using Barnfind’s BarnOne BTF1-07 WDM transmission system. The equipment was supplied to Itochu Cable System Corp by the manufacturer’s local partner, Village Island. Both programs were transmitted from WOWOW’s studio to the Belle Salle Akihabara Event Hall in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo for 4K public viewing on a 355-inch UHD LED display.
The broadcaster deployed a single 1RU BTF-1-07 on each site to provide simultaneous transmission and reception of a 4x3G-SDI signal. ‘It was very nice for the operators to monitor the transmitted 4K signal by the return path in a 1U unit,’ stated Michael van Dorpe, CEO of Village Island.
