ZSBTV takes to the road with Barnfind

CHINA: Zhongshan Broadcasting & Television’s (ZSBTV) new four-channel Ultra HD/EFP (Electronic Field Production) mobile studio has been outfitted with a signal transport platform from Barnfind Technologies. Located in Guangdong Province, the OB van required a complete audio, video, signal routing, intercom, tally and monitoring system to be packed into a 9U flight case. Barnfind’s BTF1-02 frame serves as the main/redundant routing matrix for the mobile studio and is integrated with a Blackmagic Design Atem 4K production switcher to complete live and recorded broadcastings for outdoor news, comprehensive theatrical performances and other events. The system was designed and integrated by the manufacturer’s regional partner, Guangzhou Digi-Red Electronic Co Ltd.
The broadcaster has installed BarnOne BTF1-02 frames – with 16 HDBNC and 16 SFP ports including the 32x32 matrix – as the core routing matrix that operates up to 16 channels of optical signals and 20 channels of HD-SDI signals for communication and transport between cameras, switchers, and the record-and-control system. The frame reportedly not only helps the station transport the main/redundant HD-SDI signals but also transforms into a looping systems for eight channels of Ultra-HD live/recording feeds on-site.
‘Compared with the traditional on-field studio setup, the BarnOne system demonstrates significant advantages from its smart and advanced space-saving design, application flexibility and multi-functionality resulting in convenient on-field production,’ said Mr Liu, chief technician at Zhongshan Broadcasting & Television. ‘Barnfind performed flawlessly during our live production. It inspires us to do more innovative concepts of broadcasting in our region. We believe the potential for Barnfind is huge.’
‘With Barnfind’s smart system construction, advanced design concept, high scalability and flexibility, we believe this project will be an exemplary multiple-channel mobile studio system in the Chinese broadcasting industry,’ added Chen Can, general manager of Digi-Red Electronic Equipment.
