3db gets world’s first SpeechLine Digital Wireless

UAE: Dubai-based rental company, 3db, has become the world’s first user of Sennheiser’s new SpeechLine Digital Wireless microphone system. The solution has been designed specifically for spoken word applications and was put to use for the first time at The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature 2016 (EAFOL).
‘We placed an order for SpeechLine when Sennheiser first started talking about it,’ recalled Eddie Mulrainey, managing partner at 3db. ‘We had a demonstration from an early demo set and I was sold. We initially put an order in for eight channels, but with the events we are working on here we decided to up that to 24.’
The rental house worked closely with Sennheiser’s Middle East team as well as with the manufacturer’s headquarters in Germany to ensure it would have the equipment delivered and ready for the high-profile event. ‘Ryan Burr at Sennheiser Middle East has gone above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed,’ noted Mr Mulrainey. ‘And Sennheiser Germany has been really proactive. They have worked with us on things like the app, asking us what we would like to see in there and making changes to make things more user friendly for technicians. On the reporting side they’re very up on it and they want to get it right. We’re happy to be working with them.’
‘I have known Eddie and the 3dB team for many years and when Eddie mentioned he was looking to refresh his wireless microphone inventory last year I asked him if he would consider the new SpeechLine Digital Wireless microphone system, even though it wasn’t due for official release for a few months,’ added Sennheiser’s Mr Burr. ‘Once I’d explained the feature set and the new digital transmission technology then Eddie seemed enthusiastic. This spurred the 3dB team into attending a seminar that included a hands on session with the SpeechLine Digital Wireless at Meydan back in October, after which Eddie made a firm commitment to the product range. Since then we have been working with the 3dB team to ensure that they get the right mix of products and at a time when they most needed it. Obviously, because the technology is so new, we got straight into a training session when the kit arrived in the UAE and I assisted the team once they were onsite for the first event using the products.’
‘Ryan and the team from Sennheiser worked hard to push the delivery schedule to get the units to us in time for the event,’ continued Mr Mulrainey. ‘Ryan has conducted training on the new SpeechLine systems at 3db and, in conjunction with 3db, are planning more training to introduce the product to the region.’
Having used the new system for the first time, Mr Mulrainey is clearly satisfied with the purchase. ‘We’re really happy with it, they are really stable and there are some great features, I can’t speak highly enough of them,’ he reasoned. ‘The new headsets that come as part of the SpeechLine sound phenomenal and the build quality of the handhelds and the beltpacks are superb. You give that to a presenter or people doing a Q&A and it feels like a quality piece of kit. Everyone who has used it has been impressed.’
‘All in all, the collaboration and assistance we have had from 3dB will ensure that the SpeechLine Digital Wireless product range gets rolled out and progresses to become not just the only wireless microphone system dedicated to speech but the most successful one as well,’ concluded Mr Burr. ‘We are very grateful to the whole 3dB team for their commitment to this new product range and we look forward to continuing our close relationship with them.’
