Ajda Pekkan’s dLive performances

TURKEY: With a career spanning five decades and over 20 albums, Ajda Pekkan, has potentially earned her moniker: Süperstar. The Turkish pop star recently toured her native country, performing at several notable venues, including Istanbul’s Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Amphitheatre, Bodrum Amphitheatre and Izmir International Arena. Ms Pekkan’s production manager and FOH engineer, Inanc Yenidogan, specified an Allen & heath dLive digital mixing system to accompany the artist and the 30-person band on the tour.
The dLive system handled FOH, monitors and recording, and comprised a pair of S7000 Surfaces and a DM64 MixRacks. Stereo IEMs were deployed for the band members, while side-fills with mono sub monitor mixes were implemented for the bass player and the drummer. This required approximately 60 mono auxes.
Further auxes were routed to the DM64 at FOH, which served as an output expander, via Dante. Each of the shows was recorded on a Mac DVS by way of M-Dante.
‘We made the most of the interlinking possibilities of dLive,’ explained Wayne Nigel Gittens, the tour’s monitor engineer. ‘With 30 musicians on stage with high monitor requirements, the FOH rack was partly used as an output expander via Dante.’
