Al Salam opts for Waveburg

KUWAIT: Production company, Al Salam Media Group, has recently purchased a Waveburg Pro speaker system. The purchase was reportedly made to enhance the company’s capabilities for a wide range of events.

‘In terms of shows, we do about half music and half corporate,’ explained company development manager Yasin Fouad. To meet these needs, Al Salam has purchased eight LA-8 line array enclosures and four HL118S LTR subs. The system is powered by a pair of WCAD WD-3500 Class-D amplifiers, one for the subs, and another for the mid-low. There is a further WCAD WD-2300 Class-D amplifier that is put to use for the high frequency elements. Speaker management is handled by XTA with a DP426 management system and a GQ600 graphic equaliser.

'We listened to few similar-sized preferred brand PAs in a shootout situation and determined that LA-8 had the sound character and versatility we wanted and, most importantly, the sound of a big PA,’ explained chief sound engineer Aly Abd Allah. ‘My biggest pet peeve is to have a compact PA that sounds like a compact PA. The LA-8 has a one-of-a-kind handmade wooden waveguide to stay away from harsh professional stereotype sound quality, this horn generates a wide coverage angle of 120-degrees. The HL118S subwoofer is a real high efficiency subwoofer, less cabinets provide more power.’
