AVI-SPL equips Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre

UAE: AVI-SPL’s Dubai office has recently completed a project to install audio, video, UV lighting and control solutions for the Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre in Kalba, Sharjah. The systems integrator was recommended to the client, the Environment Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), by the exhibition designer, Sophy Cave Design.

Located at the base of the Hajar Mountains outside of Kalba, Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre required a system that was easy to use and maintain due to its remote location. Audio and UV lighting solutions were required to present site specific art commissions and a tailored auditorium system was required for the public lecture space; all with centralised control.

Meeting these needs on the audio side, AVI-SPL opted for a combination of Tannoy and Soundtube. The project called on 10 Tannoy CVS 6 ceiling speakers for the auditorium alongside seven Soundtube FP6030-II pendant speakers. Power for the system is courtesy of a Lab.gruppen E 8:2 2-channel amplifier and an Alcorn McBride AmpTraxx 8-channel stereo amplifier. The venue has also been equipped with a Shure SLX24/SM58 handheld wireless microphone system. Meanwhile, the lighting system calls on products from ADJ and Alcorn McBride.

Both the visual and control sides of the project call extensively on equipment from Crestron. The installer opted for the manufacturer’s DM-TX-201-C DigitalMedia 8G+ transmitter and DM-RMC-4K-100-C 4K DigitalMedia 8G+ receiver and room controller with scaler to feed the Christie DHD555-GS 1DLP HD 5,000 lumen laser phosphor projector. The control system is centred on Crestron’s DMPS3-4K-150-C 3-Series 4K DigitalMedia presentation system with the manufacturer’s TSW-752 7-inch touchscreen and TT-111 Connect It presentation interface.

The installation itself took approximately two weeks of site time spread over the three month project timescale. ‘AVI-SPL is pleased with the project overall. It was well executed even with the remote location,’ said AVI-SPL project manager, Adam Loosley. ‘We haven’t had any direct feedback from the EPAA, but Sophy Cave was impressed by the suitability of the hardware specified for the requirements of the site, the focus and enthusiasm our project team and our ability to deliver the project and would be happy to work with AVI-SPL again in the future.’
