MIDDLE EAST: Avid has named Mounzer Bechara as its new general manager for the Middle East. Mr Bechara will be responsible for continuing the company’s ongoing momentum and growth in the Middle Eastern market.
Mr Bechara has more than 12 years of expertise in the broadcast and technology industry, five of which he spent at Avid in different roles. Most recently, he was sales manager for the Middle East, supporting Avid’s growth and business development in the region. Reporting to Christopher Brennan, managing director of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Turkey, Mr Bechara will remain based in Avid’s Dubai office.
‘The Middle East is a very important region for Avid and having the right person to ensure its continued expansion is key,’ said Mr Brennan. ‘I am delighted to see someone of Mounzer’s caliber take the lead in growing Avid’s footprint in the area. I am confident that his experience in the industry and knowledge of broadcasters and media organisations will generate significant opportunity for the company.’
In addition, as part of its ongoing commitment to customers in the Middle East, Avid is expanding its local support, professional services, sales and marketing teams. The company is also undertaking a major refurbishment of the Dubai office, creating an on-site demo facility similar to the Avid Centre of Excellence (ACE) found at Avid’s European headquarters in Pinewood, Buckinghamshire, UK. Supporting the company’s recently announced Avid Everywhere vision, the new facility replicates real-world broadcast and post production environments, and will serve to demonstrate the benefits of integrated and end-to-end workflows to customers.
‘I am excited to take on this new role at a time where our momentum and presence in the region is strong and consistently growing,’ said Mr Bechara. ‘The region is gaining more market share and influential power, attracting international investor attention and focus.’
