Avid installed into Jazz at Lincoln Center

QATAR: In a deal made possible by Avid’s local distributor Al Isteklal Qatar, an Avid Venue SC48 Remote System was sold to the Jazz at Lincoln Centre.

‘The SC48 was selected for several reasons – firstly great sound quality is something that is fundamental to Jazz,’ said SIA Acoustics’ Sam Bercow, who is the sound designer for the club. ‘Also, the SC48 provides live mixes, mixes for web casting and 32 channels of Pro Tools recording, and these were all reasons we selected it. While the venue does have an in-house engineer, several acts often bring their own guest engineer, and the SC48 is both well known and easy to use. We also value both the plug-in architecture and the fact that visiting engineers can load their own preset show configurations,’ he explained. ‘An additional reason is that Avid is able to provide support in Doha!

‘The venue and the visiting musicians are all thrilled with the SC48,’ he enthused. ‘Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is one of the world's leading producers of serious music. As a vital part of Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center has to keep up this commitment to excellence. The SC48 provides both the tools and sound quality to meet the expectations of the JALC audience, both live in the venue and online. The goal for this venue was to create the best sounding jazz club for this part of the world, and the SC48 has helped us try to meet this goal.’

Mr Bercow added that he is ‘thrilled with the SC48. The range of features is great, but it is the intuitive interface that makes these features more readily accessible and makes the SC48 so well received.’
