Axons Synapse processes signals at World Cup

SOUTH AFRICA: Netherlands-based A/V signal processing equipment manufacturer, Axon, has supplied more than half of South Africa’s World Cup stadia with kit for broadcasting the matches. Six of the 10 stadiums are using Axon’s Synapse equipment for various signal processing requirements.

Axon’s equipment is being used at the Durban, Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg/Ellispark and Pretoria venues and by German facility supplier Studio Berlin for the Johannesburg/Soccer City and Rustenburg venues. These six facilities have been equipped with 400 Synapse quad split modules capable of generating 1,500 multiview channels.

Also in use are the Synapse dual channel down converters, dual channel up converters, 8-channel audio sample rate converters, distribution amplifiers, and video delays. Over 2.4 billion people worldwide have been able to see the equipment at work during the tournament.
