Blond enters the Big Brother house

ANGOLA: For the seventh consecutive year, Blond Productions was engaged to work on Endemol Shine Africa’s reality show, Big Brother, providing the complete technical setup for each week’s Big Brother Extremo Live Eviction Show, as well as the opening show and series finale. On the lighting side, Blond rigged a Robe lighting solution supplied by distributor, DWR Distribution.

The Angolan version of the reality television franchise was broadcast on DSTV and produced at Red Pepper Studios in Linden, Johannesburg. ‘It’s a privilege to be part of an on-going production which has consisted of various countries and formats,’ enthused Blond Productions owner, Christiaan Ballot. ‘It’s one of the shows that has helped us grow through the years.’

Blond’s lighting designer, Mauritz Neethling used the MA onPC command wing to create the design that consisted of 12 Robe Mini-Points, 36 Robin 100 LEDBeam and Robe MMX Spots. A total of 24 Robe CycFX4, 12 Robe 700AT Spots and Robin 300 LEDWash, 12 Clay Paky Sharpies and 78 Anolis Arklink 4 LED units completed the setup.

Toni Van Oostenrijk from SpaceCadet designed the set, which was built by Dream Sets and saw Touch Media produce the 3D mapping. This new set incorporated the lighting fixtures themselves, as Mr Ballot noted, ‘We used the Robin 100 LEDBeams for this purpose and for the very first time, the CycFX4. The CycFX4s were amazing, especially to create eye candy and to add something different to the show.’
