Bon Jovi kick off Flash season

UAE: Flash Entertainment got its new season of concerts underway with Bon Jovi performing to a 25,000 strong crowd at the du Arena in Abu Dhabi. Flash turned to Delta Sound to supply the audio equipment for the concert.

The main PA for the event was formed L-R hangs of 12 L-Acoustics K1 with four K2 per side as downfill. A further 10 K2 were used on either side as sidefill while eight stacks of two Kara provided frontfill. Low end was taken care of through the combination of six flown K1 Subs per side behind the main hangs plus 10 stacks of three ground stacked SB28s in a cardioid configuration. Delays consisted of 12 V-Dosc while the system was powered by 18 LA8 Racks.

The drive rack consisted of equipment from Furman, TASCAM and Eaton, as well as Meyer Sound’s Galileo 616 processors for system management. The shout system was built around Mackie SRM 150 powered speakers and Shure microphones while the intercom was from Clear-Com.

Bon Jovi supplied their own control, mic package and split systems. However, Delta was asked to have a DiGiCo SD7 on standby as a backup. However, the rental house did supply the control and mic package for support act Carl & the Reda Mafia. A DiGiCo SD11 was put to use at FOH with a Digi rack on stage and a Yamaha PM5D as the monitor control board. A selection of Shure and Sennheiser mics with Radial DI boxes accompanied the instruments on stage. L-Acoustics XT115 HIQ wedges were used as monitor wedges for the five-piece local band.

‘It was great to finally see Bon Jovi live,’ said Delta Sound senior engineer, Rob Eatock. ‘They sounded great and had a good energy on stage considering the high temperatures and ridiculous humidity. We installed a cadioid sub configuration which we don’t use often. However, it worked well with the Bon Jovi setup.’
