Busy start to the season for Delta

UAE: The early part of the season has been a busy period for Delta Sound, with the rental company enlisted to supply a pair of high-profile events. The company was responsible for the console and comms for Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story Live in Abu Dhabi and was called in to support Maestra with the audio delivery for Groove on the Grass.

Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story Live took place at Al Raha Theatre in Abu Dhabi. To support this production, Delta supplied a DiGiCo SD5 with an SD Rack over Optocore as well as onsite support throughout the show. On the comms side, a system comprising 12 Clear-Com FreeSpeak wireless packs and 20 hardwired packs was delivered. This provided communication over four party lines to allow the various departments their own discreet channel. The show channel was also interfaced with the Motorola Radios to allow communication with the rest of the team should it be required.

‘Communications were key for the automation system used for flying performers around the venue, allowing this to be done safely and successfully,’ said Delta Sound’s Ethan Curry. ‘The show was a great success both technically and as a whole, and the team were a pleasure to work with.’

Groove on the Grass at Emirates Golf Club saw Delta delve into its inventory of L-Acoustics cabinets to support Maestra with the audio delivery. The home-grown electronic music festival featured a pair of stages which required similar solutions.

‘Both systems provided were relatively straight forward, we knew that we wanted to deliver a punch to the sound so we opted for Kudo coupled with SB28 subs,’ recalled Mehdi Ben Khalil, audio systems engineer for the festival. ‘The 12-inch drivers in the Kudo really help give good low end extension.’
