QATAR: Canford has made the largest sale of its new D’n’A digital and analogue cables for installation at the Qatar Foundation’s Education City in Doha.
In what will be the first use of the new universal cable in the Middle East, local systems integrator Baytur is installing 40km of the manufacturer’s D’n’A FST-HD variant in various projects across the 14 sq-km site. Launched at the Plasa and IBC trade shows in September, the cable can be used for digital as well as analogue signals, and has been designed to have a true impedance of 100 ohms. Canford believes this will provide optimum impedance for AES/EBU digital audio signals as well as analogue microphone and line level signals.
Emily Headon, Canford’s international sales development manager commented: ‘It’s a pleasure working with such a well run and professional company as Baytur, especially on such a monumental and prestigious project as this. That so much of our new D’n’A cable has been chosen for use in the project is particularly pleasing since this is exactly the kind of application these cables are designed for and we hope more will follow.’
The D’n’A purchase was part of a larger cable order from Baytur which amounted to around 455km of various cable types. This included 100km of data cables, several types of audio multicores and 24km of its BBC PSF1/6 RCM cable. This is a 50 ohm miniature coaxial cable uniquely available from Canford which has been built to BBC specifications and is for use in UHF and VHF applications.
