Clay Paky illuminates Secret of the Sea

QATAR: An extensive Clay Paky rig was used to light Secrets of the Sea at the Qatar Marine Festival in Doha. The two-hour musical called on over 300 artists and staff, 99 per cent original music, 300 costumes, 16,000 hours of rehearsals and many technological solutions on stage.

Lighting designer Massimo Tomasino and choreographer and director Gino Landi opted for a rig of the Italian manufacturer’s lights. A total of 26 Alpha Spot HPE 700s were distributed among the scenic sails, along with 26 Alpha Wash 700s. The front of the stage featured some of the 22 Alpha Spot HPE 1200s in order to provide the front lighting, and others between the tower and the set, some distance away. One Spot 1200 in particular was fitted inside the tower to create a lighthouse effect. All 30 Alpha Beam 700s, were distributed as backlighting.
