Delta returns to Qasr Al Hosn

UAE: Delta Sound has been called in to provide site-wide audio for Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al Hosn festival for the fourth year running. The 11-day event sees an entire city block split into different zones to celebrate different aspects of Abu Dhabi’s heritage. People Creative is responsible for the 2016 outing and has called back all the contractors from the previous year’s event.

Delta has supplied 60 Panasonic Ramsa B200 100V line speakers to cover the park area, powered by L-Acoustic LA48 amps and running through custom 100V transformer units. The decision to go with the B200 system over a standard speaker setup was reportedly due to the long cable runs needed to get to some of the towers, and the fact that multiple towers can be linked together on the same circuit.

In addition, 40 HK Audio CT108 speakers have been used to cover certain areas in the park, where smaller units were required. The Dubai-based rental house has also supplied 24 Electro-Voice SX300 speakers to the Cultural Foundation building as an emergency system, as well as 28 L-Acoustic 5XT speakers for specific performance areas. Completing the loudspeaker deployment are 12 L-Acoustic Kudo cabinets for the Al Ayyala performances.

A DiGiCo SD11 with D-Rack was the mixer of choice while playback for the site and performance areas was through Custom Mac Mini racks with Focusrite sound cards. All audio for the park area was fed into an AEQ Phoenix Venus network, which in turn was sent into a fibre network that Delta had installed around the park. To keep everything on track an Adrem T160s GPS system was used to lock all of the playback devices together, meaning announcements and fades would happen at the same point every night.
