UAE: Done Events once again called in Delta Sound to supply the audio equipment for the 2016 edition of the Virgin Radio RedFestDXB festival. The two-day event at Dubai’s MediaCity Amphitheatre saw performances from the likes of The Vamps, Steve Aoki, Rita Ora, Adam Lambert and DJ Mistajam.
Delta turned to its L-Acoustics inventory for the main festival PA. The rental house supplied 24 K1 for the main hangs with 12 K1 Sub and eight K2 cabinets used for down-fill. A further 16 K2 were flown for out-fill while 16 Kara took care of front-fill. Completing the main speaker line up were 24 ground stacked SB28 subs. Power for the system was from 37 LA8 amplifiers with timing and equalisation handled by Meyer Sound Galileo processors. The system was monitored via L-Acoustics’ LA Network Manager.
At front of house, a pair of Avid Profile consoles were supplied for the visiting engineers, in addition to a Midas Pro2 for Adam Lambert. A DiGiCo SD11 completed the FOH line up by taking on house duties.
Monitors also called on an Avid Profile, but this time with the addition of a DiGiCo SD5 while the Adam Lambert production opted for a DiGiCo SD9. On stage, the system comprised 24 L-Acoustics 115HIQ wedges, Arcs and SB28s for side-fills and a mixture of SB28 and SB18 Subs for DJ and drummers. LA8 amps provided the power. Delta also provided the mics and RF for all of the artists, which included 48 channels of RF and 132 ways of splits.
‘We provided a full flip flop system for all artists,’ explained Delta's Craig Harvey. ‘Eight ways of Shure UR4D, eight ways of Sennheiser 2000 RF mics and 10 ways of Sennheiser 2050 IEM available on each separate monitor system. There was also a stand-alone Sennheiser G3 IEM system just in case. All in all, it was a really flexible system where no one needed to share any RF.’
Completing the kit list was a communications system which featured 100 Motorola radios for crew and artists as well as a Clear-Com FreeSpeak II system on stage for line checks and communication. ‘It integrated really well with the shout system and made communicating throughout the weekend so much easier,’ noted Al Woods, Delta’s man at FOH. ‘It worked so well giving great coverage even at FOH.’
