Delta Sound to give K1 its Middle East debut

UAE: Delta Sound will give L-Acoustics’ K1 large format line source its Middle East debut for the Yasalam concerts on Yas Island for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.

‘We’ve got a K1 system coming for the Formula One season, which is the three F1 concerts plus the other five concerts up until the end of December,’ said Delta Sound’s Andy Jackson. ‘That will be the first time the K1 has been used in the Middle East and I can’t wait. It’s the first time we’ve used it, but everything we have heard about it is really positive.’

The French manufacturer has packaged K1 as a ‘complete system for the touring market’. Designed for very large concert stadiums and outdoor festivals, it combines a three-way, quad-amplified enclosure featuring a new K transducer arrangement, with boosted resources on the HF section, and is typically combined with a dedicated LF extension (K1-SB). The system will be in use for the performances by Kanye West, Linkin Park and Prince at Ferrari World for the after race concerts.

Delta Sound has brought the system in through the L-Acoustics Rental Network, a global community of companies that meet seasonal demands with pooled resources. ‘It’s a temporary system so it won’t be here forever, but it is a great way to introduce it to the market,’ he explained. ‘It is definitely something we would look at as a longer term deal as well.’

Mr Jackson believes the use of this system highlights Delta Sound’s commitment to the region. ‘I think it shows that we are still trying to bring the level up to that of Europe and the US. If K1 is the benchmark for the next few years, then I think that’s where we will be.’
