Digital Projection on City Walk

UAE: As part of a major visual installation at Dubai’s City Walk, systems integrator RDK International specified 30 projectors from Digital Projection’s Titan range. The manufacturer’s Middle East team provided a proof of concept. Float4, a digital studio specialist from Montreal, was enlisted to oversee the project and brought in fellow Montreal-based company XYZ Cultural Technology to complete the majority of the systems integration.
The end result is a digital canvas that spans three sections: The Gateway, Show Street and Place de Lumiere. Show Street has been equipped with 12 Titan 930 projectors, with a further 18 employed on the plaza. The combined 30 projectors join several LED screens and approximately 120 lighting fixtures to create the digital canvas. Digital Projection reportedly provided the component design, while Tim Wood, regional manager Middle East and Turkey, proposed the solution.
‘The projectors were mounted in an unobtrusive way with minimal effort and the built-in ColorMax technology ensured that they could all be easily calibrated,’ commented Mr Wood. ‘The dual lamp system allows for redundancy ensuring the show can run uninterrupted should there be the need to change a lamp.'
