DLC adds more DIS

UAE: Dubai-based rental company, DLC, has increased its inventory of DIS simultaneous interpretation equipment. It has invested in six further CU6110 central control units via distributor NMK Electronics in order to cater for the rapid growth of its conference division.

‘As there are more and more events occurring in the region, we as a preferred rental partner for conferencing and simultaneous interpretation equipment are required to expand our stock continuously just to keep up with demand,’ said DLC’s Mark Breakspear. ‘The market and our client base have become much more accustomed to using discussion systems and the advantages of using these in even smaller meetings, and this of course increases the demand.’

DLC has been a long-term DIS user, so the decision to increase its stock of the manufacturer’s equipment was relatively simple. ‘DIS and Shure have always been our preferred choice in conferencing due to the stability of their systems, ease of use and truly world class software and support,’ noted Mr Breakspear. ‘The included web application is easy to use for even the most inexperienced chairman or technician, and with the new “large” software (version 6.8), which includes the ability to create custom display applications, we are able to much more easily show data from our system in a visual style that conforms to the clients’ wishes, which can be adapted on the spot.

‘The events we supply equipment to vary from smaller board meetings with only six to 10 units, to the very large international meetings with unit counts up in the hundreds,’ continued Mr Breakspear. ‘One of the key points for us in choosing the DIS 6000 system is scalability and flexibility. The same equipment, cables and software is used for all sizes of events, making it a very good investment.'

DLC has not wasted any time in putting the new equipment to use. ‘The newly purchased equipment, including DIS CU 6110 and DCS6190/6990 units, were initially bought to be used for the World Telecommunication Development Conference,’ explained Mr Breakspear. ‘The WTDC conference at Dubai World Trade Centre is one of the largest events with a total of over 800 microphones spread over a number of rooms.’

With this event having proved successful for DLC, Mr Breakspear is equally confident that the equipment will continue to be put to good use over the coming months. ‘We already have many bookings for the equipment stretching all the way into May. We are very happy that the system is so popular and our main concern is actually just keeping up with the demand in the region.

‘Dubai is very good at growing its tourism and attracting these types of international events where conferencing equipment and interpretation is required,’ continued Mr Breakspear. ‘We are very fortunate to be able to support this part of the meetings industry and help the region grow. We believe that with the upcoming 2020 expo, the demand will continue to grow, far beyond what we see today.’
