DWR lights symmetrical schools

SOUTH AFRICA: DWR Distribution has supplied the lighting equipment for a pair of identically designed and built schools. Soshanguve Secondary School, situated about 25km north of Pretoria, and the Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School in Daveyton, Benoni are government schools established to change the face of schools located in townships.
Each school consists of 33 classrooms and sporting facilities and are exact copies of each other. They both required a basic lighting solution to accommodate school plays and general assemblies.
‘We were called by a company called IES Electrical to assist with the project,’ recalled DWR’s Johnny Scholtz. ‘They wanted a simple lighting system, fixtures that could change colour, and a small control system.’
To meet this need DWR installed each school hall with three lighting bars, an FOH overhead and a back truss with all the necessary rigging gear. Each school was also supplied with four Philips Selecon SPX Zoom Spot, a Philips Strand 6 Pack Dimmer, 24 Longman F4 Ups and a Philips Strand 250 ML console. Added to this was the cabling and distros required to make the system work.
The installation was carried out by DimBright and was overseen by Keith Pugin of DWR. Once completed, DWR's Gareth Chambers presented training to the teachers involved and guided them through the system.
