Eclipse covers Skybar

UAE: Eclipse Staging Services has supplied audio, video and lighting equipment to Skybar for its temporary setup for the Abu Dhabi Formula One grand prix. The Lebanese club has been taking over the du Forum during the race weekend for the last three years, and event organiser Flash Entertainment once again contracted Eclipse to provide the technical elements.
‘The setup was very similar to previous years, accommodating up to 2,000 people in the audience mainly congregating around tables on the tiered audience block,’ said Eclipse group chief operations officer Darren Hodge. ‘Along with the house DJs from the Skybar club in Lebanon there were a number of appearances each night from the likes of Missy Elliot, Mel C, Ceelo Green and Akon.’
The audio equipment supplied included a large complement of L-Acoustics gear. The company used V-Dosc and dV-Dosc for the main PA with SB218s and dV-Subs for low end. Monitors were 12XTs. Control from front of house was via a Yamaha M7 desk.
The event provided Eclipse with the first opportunity to use its new Martin Professional Mac Viper lights. ‘Again this year Hiljo, the lighting Dutchman, produced a design which spread out across the whole of the venue utilising many of the fixture types from our ever growing inventory,’ explained Mr Hodge. ‘Lighting FOH consisted of two Road Hog Full Boars networked together with three wings set up to have more lighting presets close to hand. From them, the system consisting of the Mac Vipers, Sharpys, Clay Paky 1500W HPEs and washes, atomic strobes, Chauvet 144 battens and a bunch of generics was run.’
The company also supplied a video wall for the venue. ‘The rear video wall, which was driven by the same Dutch team as for previous events brought in by Skybar, was a low res PS25 lightweight transparent product that was also used around the front of the DJ platform.’
Further to this, Eclipse also supplied and installed 250m of LEDs to the bars and took care of the secondary power distribution for all areas inside and out.
