EV covers Souk Al Wakrah

QATAR: Helmet Trading & Contracting has installed an extensive Electro-Voice solution to cover the Souk Al Wakrah tourist attraction in the historic town of Al Wakrah. The site consists of restaurants, shops and cultural installations.
Souk Al Wakrah required a distributed sound system to cover the whole of the 2km site. To achieve this, Helmet installed over 1,000 EV ZX1i loudspeakers driven by Contractor Precision Series (CPS) power amplifiers. To blend in with the historic appearance of the Souq Al Wakrah, all the loudspeakers have been hidden in recesses and covered with fabric matching the colour of the walls. Processing for the system is handled by 12 of the manufacturer's N8000 matrices while the entire system can be configured, controlled, and supervised via the custom-designed Iris-Net graphical user interface on a touchscreen.
'With this system, we have succeeded in providing homogeneous coverage of the entire area ? including the 500m-long parking lot,' stated Helmet engineer and project manager Mahmoud Fahmawi. 'The sound performance of the loudspeakers is great. They are equipped with high-end, lightweight components and are also extremely robust and weatherproof, making them the perfect choice for outdoor installations. With so many cabinets, the integrated QuickSAM heavy-duty, strong-arm mounting kit really proved useful. It made the installation easy and straightforward ? saving us a great deal of time and money.'
