Festival Sound goes with DiGiCo for Neon Run

SOUTH AFRICA: Festival Sound called on DiGiCo SD9 consoles for both monitors and front of house at the recent Neon Run event in Johannesburg. Wizardry Group was the full technical supplier and production team for the event and contracted Festival Sound to handle the audio.

Held at the Johannesburg Wanderers Stadium, Neon Run is a night time event where runners, cyclists and walkers, covered in neon accessories and body paint, cover a 5km route. The reward at the finish line is a party and entertainment from some of South Africa’s top performing artists. Petru Palmer of Festival Sound worked at FOH while Gabriel Le Roux handled the monitor position.

‘As always the SD9 worked beautifully,’ said Mr Palmer. ‘It’s a solid system and bullet proof. I love the sound, flexibility, stability and everything, really, is amazing. The greatest challenge on this event was keeping all the gear dry.’

Away from Neon Run, Festival Sound has also recently increased its inventory of DiGiCo desks with an S21 purchased through the manufacturer’s local partner, DWR Distribution. The purchase was reportedly made because the console is suitable for smaller events and venues, adding an extra dimension of flexibility to its equipment inventory.
