LEBANON: UK-based loudspeaker manufacturer Funktion One has added to its list of distributors in the region with Mamari Freres sarl in Lebanon.
The first contact between the manufacturer and its new distributor was a year and a half ago, and although the companies had not met each other in person they started to quote together for various projects. From here the relationship has developed, culminating in Mamari’s appointment as Funktion One’s Lebanese distributor. ‘We’ve really landed on our feet with this relationship,’ said Funktion One’s David Bruml. ‘We’re very pleased about it, it’s nice to have new representation in the region.’
In March, Funktion One were contacted by Ramzi Massih from a new venture called AudioPiknik. Mr Massih had been out in Japan for the Labyrinth Festival and had experienced the Funktion One sound there and wanted to expose audiences in the Lebanon to the same sound quality, connecting them with music in a natural setting. After an extensive search for a suitable site, he found a beautiful location deep in a forested valley about an hour outside Beirut. Funktion One supplied a complete plug and play system via Marmari Freres comprising: four Resolution 4Es, six F121 bass enclosures, a fully wired amplifier rack loaded with its OEM MC2 amplifiers (one E90, one E45 and two E25s) and an XO4 loudspeaker management system along with a Formula Sound FF6000 DJ mixer and all necessary cables. Mr Bruml went out for the first event on 31st July to help with initial set-up and to provide training on use of the system. ‘I was really impressed with the attention to detail of the event and the care exhibited by all involved’, said Mr Bruml, ‘it feels that the AudioPiknik events will inevitably grow in a positive way and can only be good for the region. It was a real privilege to be involved.’
