Lighting Algeria’s MasterChefs

ALGERIA: David Seligmann-Forest of French lighting company Lite4Life was engaged by broadcaster Allégorie Group as the director of photography for the MasterChef Algeria. The reality television series was produced at a purpose-built studio in the Algiers suburb of El Hamis and saw Mr Seligmann-Forest design a lighting rig based around 10 Robe DL4S LED profiles.
The DL4S fixtures were installed on the ceiling of the studio and were reportedly selected for their shuttering speed. Working on the show with lighting programmer Edward Hall, Mr Seligmann-Forest utilised the DL4S profiles for key lighting the contestants, presenters and judges.
‘Essentially I replaced over 30 conventional fixtures with the 10 DL4Ss,’ explained Mr Seligmann-Forest. ‘This ultimately saved some production budget. Robe was the first manufacturer to pay attention to the need in television for a good range of colour temperatures and produce an LED range that addressed this.’
