Macklemore and Ryan Lewis use L-Acoustics for du Arena

UAE: An L-Acoustics rig comprising K1 and V-Dosc was recently used for a Flash Entertainment concert at Yas Island’s du Arena, headlined by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and drawing approximately 7,500 fans. The event came as part of the duo’s ongoing international tour and also featured rapper Wiley and producer Rick Ross, whilst the Red Bull opening act slot was filled by The Recipe. Sound reinforcement for the event was handled by Gearhouse.

Front of house sound for the concert was delivered via a left-right system comprising 24 flown K1 enclosures, plus 12 K1 subs, six Kara fills, two Kara down-fills and 24 SB28 subwoofers. In addition, a number of V-Dosc fills were also deployed to help contend with the venue’s shape. A total of 16 V-Dosc elements were used for out-fills, driven by 16 LA48A amps and controlled from two XTA DP446 loudspeaker management processors. A similar but smaller complement of 12 DV-Dosc combined with six LA48A amps and a single XTA DP446 took care of front-fills, and 12 DV-Dosc speakers fed from eight LA48A amps and a DP226 filled in the sides. On-stage monitoring was via nine 115 XT HIQ cabinets and a single DV-Sub powered by five LA8 amps.

The front of house position, meanwhile, was armed with an Avid Profile and a Midas Pro9, while a shout system from the mix position to the stage was established using two Nexo PS15 speakers driven by two Crown MA2400 amps and controlled by a Soundcraft 12/2/2 desk. Talkback was via two Shure SM58s.
