Maestro uses Adamson for Sonu Niigam gig

QATAR: Bahrain’s Maestro Sound & Lighting Company provided the sound, lighting and video systems for the Bollywood star Sonu Niigam’s recent concert at the Doha International Tennis Court.
One of the major challenges for Maestro was the acoustic qualities of the venue itself. The 10,000-capacity stadium is 100m wide, 70m deep and 22m high and was not designed to host outdoor music events. The architecture of the venue makes it reverberant and gives it bad acoustics for an application like this.
Maestro provided its recently acquired Y-Axis series Adamson speaker system for the gig, consisting of 16 Y18, 16 Y10, 10 T21, and four M15 monitors on stage. Lab.Gruppen amplifiers and XTA processors were used with the entire speaker system, as well as a Yamaha PM5D RH desk at FOH, specked by Sonu’s front of house engineer Promod. David Dohrman, Adamson Europe’s applications engineer, created the PA design to solve previous problems known to the venue. Using Adamson’s shooter software Mr Dohrman took on problem spots, and executed a final design.
The main PA was an L & R, low-flown system, with each hang consisting of four Y18, with a four Y10 underhang. The side PA was made up of four Y18 per side which was held up by a hoist, but was set on the stage in a configuration similar to a ground stack, in order to achieve a heavily up-tilted orientation. A fill PA consisting of four Y10 per side was installed on the balcony to cover the upper bleachers, and T21 subs were distributed in multiple stacks on the ground.
