MediaCast helps students learn from the pros

UAE: MediaCast recently held its Learn from the Pros workshop at the Raffles International School in Dubai. The initiative is part of the distributor’s community development and training programme aimed at school children and university students.

‘MediaCast is committed to giving back to the community, and it is one of our foremost endeavours to develop and nurture the local community,’ said MediaCast’s Jaffer Sadique. ‘What better way than starting it from the grassroots levels with the schools and educational institutions to instil the awareness and passion for creative community spirit?’

The free workshops were led by MediaCast specialists Gustave Miranda and Joel Manarang and gave students learning about music and audio or film and video the chance to experience professional products. These included a music production session with Ableton Push 2, and Ableton Live, while also using Aston Microphones and Pro Tools for a voice over/dubbing workshop. Around 150 students from various grades took part in the different sessions.

‘We recieved a roaring reception for this initiative from various schools across the UAE, and the response and engagement that we get from the students is very rewarding,’ said Mr Sadique. ‘The students' eagerness and excitement to learn brings delight to our team and we are on the course to build this up into a valuable community that will soon take on a life of its own. We will be expanding this to more schools. We have some exciting activities planned for the development of this which will follow. As a token of our wholehearted commitment to this community initiative, we are offering these free of charge.’
