Native Instruments powers Carl Cox at Blue Marlin

UAE: Carl Cox called on a Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S8 for his recent performance at Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE in Abu Dhabi. The DJ controller was a specific request for the beach club gig and supplied by the manufacturer’s local distributor, MediaCast.

With a sell-out crowd of over 3,000 enthusiastic beach-goers, the performance saw the DJ combine the S8 Midi controller with Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS units. Technical director, James Field was tasked with meeting the rider requests and immediately contacted MediaCast. ‘The S8 is a specialised and high-end piece of equipment, and Carl's management had made it clear that he absolutely needed this mixer to perform,’ recalled Mr Field. ‘Jaffer Sadique and his team were so professional, and organised a loan unit for us.’

The 4-channel mixer formed a key component of the performance. ‘Carl played this controller effortlessly, almost like a musical instrument,’ continued Mr Field. ‘We had 30 L-Acoustics dV-Dosc cabinets, with 20 subs, and the sound quality out of the S8 was pristine.’
