AFRICA: Dr Gianluca Bertuzzi has been appointed as sales manager for Africa and Latin America at Octopus Newsroom as it turns its global expansion plans to those regions. Based at the newsroom automation systems manufacturer’s Prague headquarters, he will report to sales director Gabriel Janko.
Dr Bertuzzi holds a doctorate in political science from the Università degli studi di Trieste. He went on to hold business support roles for a number of Italian manufacturing and distribution companies before relocating to Prague in 2012.
‘Gianluca has a very wide range of account management experience plus an excellent command of English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish,’ said Octopus Newsroom founder and CEO Petr Stokuč. ‘He joins us at a time of continuing expansion in our global reach.’
Dr Bertuzzi commented on said expansion. ‘Octopus Newsroom is a very dynamic company with a proven record of success in Europe, APAC and the USA,’ he said. ‘I am confident that African and LATAM networks will respond positively to the latest-generation Octopus 8 product series.’
Octopus Newsroom has also promoted former project director Lukas Kotek to the role of chief technology officer (CTO). Mr Kotec has been with the company since 2015 and will now report directly to Mr Stokuč, taking responsibility for development, project delivery, training and support throughout Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
‘My role will be to ensure that we continue to deliver the most effective possible solutions matching the latest news production workflows, new delivery channels and the widest possible range of viewing platforms,’ explained Mr Kotec.
