TURKEY: The Renaissance Polat Hotel in the Yesilyurt region of Istanbul turned to SF Ses ve Işık Sistemleri A.Ş when it became time for an A/V refresh. ‘This project was a direct referral and invitation from the hotel owner and hotel management,’ said SF CTO and partner, Ferhan Kayral. ‘They needed A/V systems for the ballroom and meeting rooms, as well as audio solutions for the lounge bar and the seafood restaurant.’
The systems in each area draw heavily on the Harman catalogue, but there are also further aspects to ensure the solutions meet the hotel’s needs. The ballroom has been installed with 28 JBL Control 328C speakers which are powered by seven Crown XTi 2002 amplifiers with the sound mixed on a Soundcraft FX16ii desk. Audio processing is via BSS Blu-100 and Blu-10 units while visual switching and scaling is via Crestron’s DM-MD16X16-RPS and DM-RMC-4K-SCALER-C respectively. Finally, A/V control is via Crestron’s AV3 with a pair of TSW-1050-B-S touchscreens.
The A/V system for the four meeting rooms call on 16 JBL Control 26C speakers alongside a pair of Bowers & Wilkins CCM662 and the same number of B&W CCM362. These are powered by four Crown XLS 2000, a single Crown MA160 and a Crestron MP-AMP30. Each meeting room has a Soundcraft EFX12 mixer while processing is via four dbx 231s.
Bar Noblesse has been installed with 28 JBL Control 47LP, six Control 40CS/T, an SRX 812P and four LB6W outdoor speakers from Near. Power for the system is via 10 Crown XLS 2000 amplifiers with a BSS Blu-100 providing the processing. The lounge bar has also been supplied with a Soundcraft FX16ii mixer and an AKG C214 Stereoset mic.
The final element of the hotel to receive a refresh was the Marmara seafood restaurant. This has been equipped with 18 JBL Control 16C/T and four Control 40CS/T as well as 16 Near LB4B and four IGS10. Power for the system calls on four Crown XLS 2000 and nine XLS 1000 amplifiers with processing via a BSS Blu-100.
‘The system was designed after many meetings with the management team trying to find the best solution meet their needs with what we can supply,’ stated Mr Kayral. ‘We did not face major challenges with the project. We had minor architectural problems which we solved in cooperation with the architect.’
As a refresh, the installation has been a phased project over several months. And the end result is one that Mr Kayral is satisfied with. ‘The customer is very happy with the end result so we would not do anything differently.’
