S6L-32Ds take up residence at Gearhouse

SOUTH AFRICA: Gearhouse South Africa has purchased a pair of Avid Venue S6L-32D control surfaces. The mixing consoles are in addition to existing Avid systems in the rental company’s Johannesburg-based inventory.

‘Gearhouse South Africa bought Avid Profiles back in 2010 and they have proven to be a hugely popular console specified on almost every touring rider coming to South Africa,’ said Llewellyn Reinecke, audio operations manager at the rental company. ‘The successful fit of the Avid systems with Gearhouse’s demanding rental requirements, makes it a natural choice to continue the legacy with its successor, the Avid S6L-32D.’

The new S6L-32Ds each feature 192 input channels and 96 outputs at 96kHz with support for Waves SoundGrid over MADI among other features. ‘We purchased this system specifically because of its tight integration with Pro Tools and the S6L’s Virtual Soundcheck feature,’ revealed Mr Reinecke. ‘With the ability to offer our clients an in-house 128 track simultaneous multitrack recording of their event, the FOH Engineer can play it back to the band immediately after they do a sound check. The ability to record straight to Pro Tools in-house is opening up a whole new world for Gearhouse Audio and our clients.’
