SDS boosts its stock of AV Stumpfl and Gerriets screens

SOUTH AFRICA: SDS (Sets, Drapes, Screen) has increased its inventory with the addition of 14 AV Stumpfl screens, comprising a mixture of the FullWhite borderless and wide-format screens, as well as 11 Gerriets screens. The manufacturer and installer of sets invested in the new screens due to increased demand from clients across various industries, largely for use in conferencing.

The new inventory will be split evenly between SDS’ Cape Town and Johannesburg branches. The borderless screens were tailor-made for the Cape Town International Convention Centre, of which SDS’ sister company, InHouse Venue Technical Management serves as the supplier.

‘The trend in conferencing and corporate events leans strongly toward borderless 16:9 or wide screen formats,’ explained Pieter Joubert, managing director of SDS. ‘For music concerts, most screens are in the 16:9 format now, but these screens are especially useful in the conferencing arena, providing a lightweight, quick-to-assemble screen with an exceptionally clean finish that appears to float in space. The screen is aptly named with no borders and no depth, just a full white screen surface. It wraps neatly around an aluminium frame and with the absence of a truss border and is a competitively priced product as well.’

Of the 14 AV Stumpfl Fullwhite screens, six measure 5.5m x 3.09m and four are 8m x 4.5m, with a 10m x 4.5m, a 12m x 4.5m and a pair of 8m x 2m screens completing the order. The Gerriets screens were purchased as SDS declares that they ‘are good multiple-use screens with wide viewing angles’, taking on three 10m x 5.6m front surfaces, four 8m x 4.5m and four 6m x 3.4m dual surfaces.

‘We are just keeping in line with the latest technology,’ concluded Mr Joubert. ‘SDS prides itself on the quality of the products that it delivers.’
