MIDDLE EAST: The Middle East office of Sennheiser has appointed industry newcomer Heston Saldanha as channel manager for consumer electronics and retail, a new position within the Dubai-based operation. Mr Saldanha joined the Sennheiser office just one week before the start of Cabsat MENA 2011.
‘Consumer electronics is the obvious area for us to grow,’ explained business area manager Mig Cardamone. ‘As part of our business in the UK it represents 35 to 40 per cent whereas here it’s around 15 per cent so it’s got lots of potential.’ On the appointment of Mr Saldanha, Mr Cardamone added: ‘He’s got excellent experience in retail, wholesale and duty-free sales with regional experience of the Gulf and also Africa and some parts of Europe.’
Mr Saldanha was both enthusiastic and confident regarding his new role, and his change of industry: ‘I come from the watch industry where I handled a similar distribution to that employed by Sennheiser. The markets were quite similar, covering the GCC,’ he reflected. ‘My role as channel manager is to gain more visibility for Sennheiser in retail stores and to create more interaction between customers and the brand.’
