SF serves up the sound at Capricorn

TURKEY: SF Ses ve Işık Sistemleri A.Ş was responsible for the sound system design and installation for Capricorn, a recently opened seafood restaurant in the Ortakoy district of Istanbul. The project went to SF due to the previous successful installations it has worked on for D.ream, the restaurant’s owner.
Located on the banks of the Bosphorus and next door to a five star hotel, the design brief for the restaurant was a sound system that would be able to provide high quality music playback befitting of the luxury restaurant, while making sure that the guests of the nearby hotel were not disturbed. Further to this, Capricorn required speakers that were physically small enough to be unobtrusive yet have the power to cope with DJ sets on the weekend.
To meet the aesthetic and SPL needs of the restaurant, SF opted for small enclosures, but doubled the number it installed and carefully selected their positioning. The company turned to JBL Control Series column and ceiling speakers, installing 20 Control 26C and 17 Control 23 speakers throughout the restaurant with four SB210 providing the bass reinforcement. The solution is processed by a dbx ZonePro and powered by Crown XLS and ComTech DriveCore amplifiers.
It was a five day project to install the system and the result has reportedly pleased the owners, with SF stating ‘the customers and the administrators of the restaurant are very pleased with the results as they are getting great sound without disturbing the nearby buildings’.
