Terry Acres steps down from Prosound

SOUTH AFRICA: Prosound founder, Terry Acres, has decided to step down as chairman, director and shareholder of the company. Mr Acres has decided to move away from the pressures of business and to concentrate on his own interests, which include design, consultancy and training in presentation technologies.

Following this announcement, Justin Acres and André Buys will now fulfil roles as co-CEOs. Added to this, Mark Malherbe continues in his role as Prosound’s technical director.

‘Having started the business at the ripe age of 23, and having achieved all my goals in the industry, it is time to utilise my depth of experience without the pressures of business,’ said Mr Acres. ‘The company is in the hands of strong directors and a strong management team headed into the next 40 years of Prosound innovation and quality.’

Despite moving on from the company he founded in 1973, Mr Acres will continue his involvement in staging and managing high-end music events, working on his mission to eliminate what he calls ‘so much noise and bling and poorly executed technical’ in musical performance, instead of focusing on enhancing the music.
