The Lyric turns to Pro X

SOUTH AFRICA: The Lyric at Gold Reef City has invested in a Midas Pro X console. The sale came through Prosound following the company signing an exclusivity agreement with Midas’ local distributor, ProAudio, to represent the console in southern Africa.

Prosound had been a Midas distributor for several decades prior to the appointment of ProAudio in 2015. Due to its history with the manufacturer, Prosound believes the new agreement will ensure continuity in providing the levels of service and technical advice users of the Midas Pro series have become accustomed to.

In terms of the sale, for the theatre’s resident sound engineer, Lee Brune, it was reportedly a logical progression to move on to a Pro X as it is the manufacturer’s flagship mixer.

‘The massive output and input requirements of modern performances are easily met with the Pro X's 168 inputs and 99 outputs,’ noted Prosound technical director, Mark Malherbe with Mr Brune adding ‘this is with the added bonuses of Midas’ audio quality and ease of use.’

The Lyric has been a regular customer for Prosound over the years. In the past it has purchased equipment such as its Meyer Sound Melodie PA and Electro-Voice TX1152FM monitors from the Johannesburg-based distributor.
