AEQ targets journalists with Phoenix PC application software

AEQ has extended its Phoenix family of IP codecs with new PC application software that the manufacturer claims can help to reduce operator costs. Named Phoenix PC, the software has been specifically designed to act like a professional audio codec but using standard PC software.

Using Phoenix PC, journalists can reportedly transmit interviews to central radio facilities and participate with live radio programmes in broadcast audio quality using their own personal computer. Supported formats include MP2, AAC, G711, and G722 at rates of between 64 and 384kbps. The connection is established against one Phoenix Studio, Phoenix Mobile or similar family unit connected to the internet, which is then facilitated via a public SIP Server that AEQ provides at no cost.

Additionally, Phoenix PC can record transmitted audio in ‘real-time’, and can reproduce recorded material during a live connection.
