AKG builds on legacy with C314 and more

Intended for use in a broad variety of studio environments and following the success of the C214, the C314 dual-diaphragm condenser microphone has arrived from AKG, leading a trio of new mics plus a set of headphones.
The C314 joins a range of recording mics including the C214, C414 B-XL II and C414 B-TL II. Features include four selectable polar patterns, the manufacturer’s gold-plated C414 XLS membrane, an LED indicating SPL overload, an integrated suspension and double-mesh metal grille plus 20dB attenuation pad and bass-cut filter. A carrying case is also included alongside a windscreen, spider suspension and stand adapter.
The Harman Pro brand has also announced the D5 C dynamic handheld, a cardioid model for on-stage use which can reportedly handle up to 160dB. A companion model named the D5 CS is also available with the addition of an on/off switch. Other features include a patented ‘laminated Varimotion’ diaphragm, a dual shockmount, an integrated pop filter and a spring-steel wire-mesh grille.
Elsewhere on the stage, the D112 MKII is, like its predecessor, intended for placement in front of kick drums, but with the addition of an integrated flexible mount. The mic can reportedly cope with 160dB SPL without distorting and bears the same sonic signature as its forebear.
Finally, at the other end of the signal chain, the manufacturer has released the K181 DJ UE DJ headphones. Features include a closed back design, a 50mm transducer, a bass boost switch, mono and stereo modes, and a detachable, coiled cable.
