AKG’s latest line of headphones is designed to meet the stringent needs of recording artists, producers and engineers, while keeping to an affordable price point for those on a strict budget. The recently unveiled K52, K72 and K92 models are described by the manufacturer as ‘comfortable, lightweight and durable, while delivering excellent sound quality’. The Harman brand reportedly subjected the new line of headphones to rigorous product testing, including multiple 2m drops, an 80,000 bend cycle test and driver stress tests.
The K52 offers a frequency range of 18Hz to 20kHz, while the K72 expands on this, offering a frequency range of 16Hz to 20kHz. The K92 further extends the high frequency performance of the K72 with a range of 16Hz to 22kHz.
Included is a screw-on 6.3mm plug to adapt headphones to professional gear in addition to personal music players, and a 3m cable. The K92 also features a gold-plated screw-on adapter plug.
The manufacturer states that the new headphones ‘feature large 40mm drivers, wide frequency response and low impedance’. An acoustic chamber forms part of the closed-back design, to prevent audio bleed. All three models in the new range weigh 200g.
