AKG promises next level wireless with the DMS 700 V2

AKG has launched the DMS700 V2 digital wireless microphone system, declaring that it offers ‘the next level in reliable professional audio transmission’.

According to the Harman brand, the system, which uses the new DPT700 bodypack, ‘improves the link quality and increases the working range of the transmitters and receivers to allow for more freedom in arranging anything from lecture halls in universities to houses of worship; live performances on tour to broadcast operations’.

The system is intended to replace the original DMS 700, owners of which can update via both software and hardware upgrades. The free software update includes the 512-Bit encryption, AES EBU output and improved latency of 0.5ms. Other features include range improvements, an output gain menu with a bargraph and the ability to deactivate auto-lock. Users opting for the hardware upgrade meanwhile will reportedly benefit from improved latency analogue output of 1ms, an increased microphone input gain of 0, +10 and +20dB, and a 24dB higher headphone output level.

According to Wolfgang Fritz, AKG product marketing manager – tour sound, the DMS700 V2 represents ‘the next step in our pursuit of the perfect, flawless audio signal transmission’.
