Allen amp Heath releases digital DJ mixer

Allen & Heath has unveiled the Xone:DB4, a fully digital DJ mixer with a Quad FX Core DSP engine, providing four FX BPM Loop record engines with channel EQ filters.
The Quad FX Core DSP engine enables each channel to have its own FX bank and BPM detection system, which automatically adjusts all time-related FX and loops to the tempo of the music. There are five basic FX types comprising delays, reverbs, modulators, resonators and damage, plus each FX type has a patch library of different effect variations that can be assigned to the relevant control. Each channel has a built-in looper, with selectable loop length from 1/64 beat to 4 bars using the rotary encoder. Each music channel has a three-band EQ that can be configured as standard asymmetric EQ, total Kill, or reconfigured as a High-Pass/Low-Pass filter system with adjustable resonance. There is a Mic/Auxiliary input providing two-band EQ, gain, cue, and mix level. The mixer has a built-in multi-channel USB2 soundcard allowing replay and recording from computer-based audio software for four stereo sends and four stereo returns. Other key features are multi-channel USB audio with Midi, analogue and digital I/O, input source matrix, OLED display screen, and USB for recalling user set ups.
The Xone:DB4 also features assignable deck starts, crossfader and upfader curve controls, 13-point level metering, digital output, analogue balanced outputs for main mix and booth, and a record output with adjustable level.
Also new from the manufacturer is the xDR-16 expander unit for the iLive digital mixing range which provides remote analogue I/O expansion and networking options. The xDR-16 has 16 analogue inputs and 8 analogue outputs connected via Allen & Heath’s Audio and Control over Ethernet (ACE) link fitted in Port B of an iLive MixRack, which can be positioned up to 120m away on Cat-5 or further on a dedicated fibre optic system. The manufacturer’s range of audio interface and network plug-in cards can be fitted to the xDR-16 to provide additional connectivity. Up to two expanders can be added to a standard iLive system, providing a total of 32 inputs and 16 outputs, and the ability to fit two audio networking cards. Systems implementing ‘DualRack’ mode or a FOH/Monitor split can support one expander if required. The xDR-16 also features an Ethernet network port, enabling the user to plug in a laptop or wireless access point for remote control of the entire mixing system via iLive Editor control software or iLive Tweak iPhone app.
A further addition to the ILive range is a Dante networking audio interface card. The card allows iLive systems to work with Audinate’s Dante audio networking solution, providing capacity for 64x64 bi-directional audio with full network redundancy. iLive MixRacks and modular surfaces with the RAB2 module can be fitted with the new slot-in card. A Dante Virtual Soundcard license will be included with purchases of the card, turning a PC or Mac into a Dante enabled device.
