Ambit upmix algorithm in Lawo MC2 v412 update

Lawo has released new v4.12 software for its MC² consoles and the Nova73 HD router, including the addition of the Ambit upmix algorithm.

Ambit reportedly features Lawo’s Auto Centering function, enabling the retention of a stable front image when dealing with varying content, such as speech and music. It also fully downmix compatible while all settings can be recalled via production data or snapshots.

Also included in the update is support for the console manufacturer’s first app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. Versions of the app are available for either the iPhone / iPod Touch or the larger format iPad, offering control over basic functions such as muting and recalling snapshots via WLAN. In contrast, users can also control any networked PC or Mac via the new Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) function.

Other inclusions are an automatic update of all Dallis Stageboxes from the control system, an enhanced Audio Follow Video function, a new intuitive and simple routing protect for all destinations, and a new tone generator for all MKII routers.

The v4.12 update also applies to a new 3G SDI card which has been launched, allowing 16 audio channels of full resolution, production standard 3G SDI to be de-embedded, embedded, processed and (transparently) routed within the Lawo audio network. The SDI card provides a 16x16 matrix for the de-embedder and a 32x16 matrix for the embedder.
