Antelope adds Thunderbolt to Orion Studio

Antelope Audio has made the Orion Studio audio interface fully Thunderbolt compatible, thereby enabling the unit to be connected to either PC or Mac. This is the second of the manufacturer’s interfaces to offer Thunderbolt connectivity following the flagship Orion 32+.
The 1U device offers 12 class-A mic pres, AD/DA conversion, 16 analogue outputs, two mastering grade monitor outputs, a pair of re-amp outputs, as well as 16 channels I/O via ADAT and two channels I/O via S/PDIF and the manufacturer’s 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) jitter management technology. The unit offers 32 channels at 192kHz I/O via Thunderbolt and 24 channels at 192kHz I/O via USB.
The Orion Studio interface is integrated with Antelope Audio’s onboard DSP engine, which is designed to run custom EQ, compressor and reverb plugins: including the manufacturer’s recently announced AuraVerb. The new DSP, which allows simultaneous processing of multiple effects, utilises Antelope’s proprietary effects algorithms and according to the manufacturer ‘significantly increases the speed of a workflow — no matter what DAW is chosen’.
Orion Studio can be controlled via a desktop application with a colour-coded routing matrix, four separate mixers and DSP effects integration. The software application, which was created for Orion32 and further refined for Antelope’s Zen Studio, is available for both OS X and Windows operating systems.
