Antelope unveils 2U 32-channel preamp

Squeezing 32 preamps into a compact 2U rack design, Antelope Audio has unveiled the MP32 by declaring it the ‘ultimate front-end recording device’. Aside from working as a standalone preamp unit, the rack has been specifically designed as the ideal companion to the manufacturer’s Orion32 A/D convertor and audio interface, which when combined, provides 32 XLR inputs in a 3U rack space.

Each of the 32 Class-A preamps onboard the MP32 offer phantom power and four of them can also operate as Hi-Z (high impedance) instrument inputs. Control of the preamp parameters, such as input types and gain adjustment, can be controlled remotely through the MP32’s control panel (both Mac and PC compatible). The preamps have reportedly been designed to retain the same transparent sonic character as the Orion32, and are capable of outputting up to 65dB of gain in 1dB increments, said to be more than enough power for even the most demanding ribbon microphones.
