APG partners with Powersoft

APG has announced a strategic partnership with Italian amplifier manufacturer Powersoft, that has culminated in the launch of a range of the APG-branded SA20:2 and SA30:2 amplifiers.

Due to the partnership agreement, APG is now able to offer customers a range of complete turnkey systems comprising loudspeakers, amplifiers and processing – all packaged in standard universal touring racks. However, both manufacturers have stressed that this is only the beginning of a joint development programme of technologies for the future.

The SA20:2 and SA30:2 two-channel, switch-mode Class-D amplifiers are based on Powersoft’s flagship K Series range. Designed for APG’s mid-to-high power and high power systems respectively, the 1U amplifiers are said to be lighter and more compact than most other comparable amplifiers in their class.

The SA20:2 delivers 1,950W into 4-ohms per channel or 3,900W into 8-ohms (bridged) while the more powerful SA30:2 delivers 2,600W into 4-ohms per channel and 5,200W into 8-ohms (bridged). Providing there is sufficient headroom, both amplifiers are capable of working under a 2-ohm load if necessary.

Another new product from the brand takes the form of the DMS48: a four-in/eight-out digital system processor aimed at the control and management of large, complex APG loudspeaker systems, as well as for loudspeaker processing in cases where systems are being operated at their maximum power.

Lastly, APG has also released the MX0, the smallest of the MX range of dedicated installation loudspeakers. Featuring a five-inch driver/tweeter coaxial speaker assembly and sophisticated ergonomics for ease of installation, the MX0 is primarily intended for nearfield listening and coverage of small to medium sized spaces, or for larger spaces as part of a distributed system.

Its reduced form factor and wide dispersion characteristics (100-degrees above 10KHz) enable extended coverage with a minimal amount of enclosures. Applications include vocal reinforcement, background music and in-fill applications, and when combined with subwoofers, it can act as a discreet system for hotels, restaurants, home cinemas, museums, retail outlets and multimedia venues.
