Ashly nX amplifiers promise big power with low consumption

US-based manufacturer Ashly Audio has introduced the nX range of Class-D amplifiers, reportedly delivering up to 12,000W of power while drawing ‘less than 1W’ in sleep mode.
The amplifiers are being introduced in four- or two-channel versions with selectable high-Z (70/100V) or low-Z output on each channel. Model variants include the addition of Ethernet control, and onboard Protea DSP with load monitoring.
Three series are available starting with basic nX amplifiers in four- or two-channel configurations at 3,000W or 1,500W per-channel (at 2-ohms) and including a defeatable automatic sleep mode. One step up is the nXe series, which adds Ethernet control, serial data control, aux preamp outputs, a programmable standby mode, preset recall, fault condition logic outputs, event scheduling, and optional network audio and digital audio capability (CobraNet or AES3). Finally, the nXp series amps include all of the above plus onboard 32-bit SHARC Protea DSP (48kHz or 96kHz sampling rate) and precision swept load-impedance monitoring.
Other features across the entire range include multiple independent power supplies, front-panel power switch and level controls, and front-panel LEDs for temperature, current, signal, clip, mute, bridge mode, protect, sleep, and more. All nX amps boast Neutrik connectors.
Meanwhile, Ashly Audio has also recently licensed Audinate’s Dante networking protocol. President Mark Wentling described Dante as ‘the best in flexible, yet robust digital audio transport’.
