ASL Communications ensures redundancy with external PSU

Dutch intercoms specialist, ASL Communications, has expanded its digital catalogue with an external PSU and a single channel speaker station.

The external PSU comes in the shape of the 1U DS-8200, which is capable of powering two DS-4002 matrix units via the front panel external PSU ports, delivering complete system redundancy. Should a PSU fail or the mains power shut down, a command is sent to the DS-8200 to take over the supply of electrical power. In addition, the variable speed fans in the DS-8200 provide forced cooling, while the PSU sends the status of the internal power supplies, temperatures and current to the connected matrix units via the data connection.

Meanwhile, the DS-130L or ‘paging speaker’ is a single channel speaker station for ‘listening only’ purposes, which can be deployed as a table-top or as a wall-mount speaker station.

The speaker is intended for installation in areas where a show relay and paging system is required, such as in theatre dressing rooms or a studio. It comes with a volume control, LED indicators for string power and listen-level override. It connects to the intercom line using RJ-45 connectors, and reportedly benefits from having a DS 85 booster power supply installed close-by as it draws more power than a DS 290 belt-pack.
