Expanding its line of power management, distribution and electrical protection products, Atlas Sound has announced the release of the AP-S20 20A rack mount distribution unit.
Designed to provide flexible powered distribution and protection for systems with higher current requirements, the AP-S20 comprises seven rear panel switched outlets and two additional unswitched outlets.
The AP-S20 offers three-way spike suppression for voltages up to a reported 6kV. Atlas Power reports that this clamping circuitry can engage within a nanosecond and can sustain protection against these extreme conditions for up to two milliseconds.
According to the manufacturer, the AP-S20 also includes RFI filtering that ensures delivery of ‘clean, safe power’ for improved performance from users electrical equipment. Additionally the AP-S20 is UL listed for commercial applications.
The manufacturer has also announced its new Vertical Power Strips, designed to accommodate the needs of modern electronic installations.
Strips are available in 15A and 20A models in 61cm, 121cm, and 180cm lengths. Then manufacturer states that as many as 30 total outlets, depending on the model, are positioned in either ‘In Line’ or ‘90º to Chassis’ orientation.
Atlas Sound states that each vertical power strip includes staggered outlet spacing and a ‘well thought-out’, outlet orientation design to maximise AC outlet use with large wall-wart power supplies. The strips reportedly protect electrical equipment with triple mode circuitry that suppresses unwanted energy spikes within a nanosecond, with the manufacturer claiming it can sustain suppression up to two milliseconds.
All models feature noise filtering to decrease unwanted Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) that is commonly introduced into AC lines via nearby radio transmitters or wireless products as well as circuit breaker protection, an AC Protect Indicator LED, and are UL/cUL Listed.
Lastly, the manufacturer has released an updated ControlKom mass communication system. ControlKom v2.0 is described by the manufacturer as ‘a full revision with new mission-critical enhancements and added features’. Among the enhancements is the inclusion of advanced intercom functions for full duplex communication between phones and IP Speakers; local inputs via paging relays; Unicast over WAN with Multicast over LAN; and a dedicated emergency trigger in addition to a standard call button.
