Audinate enhances Dante Controller with version 3.5
Published: PRODUCTS
Focusing on system monitoring, Audinate has released version 3.5 of its Dante Controller. The update sees the addition of several new features including, advanced real-time network monitoring functionality, multicast bandwidth usage, clock health monitoring and latency management statistical information. The sole purpose of these enhancements is to identify and fix potential issues on the network, and largely a result of feedback from customers.
According to Audinate, latency reporting has been significantly enhanced through the use of histogram-based reporting and tracking of transmitter latencies. This provides the user with at-a-glance information regarding latency performance of audio flows.
Clock health is now tracked on a per-device basis via dedicated performance histograms. This enables the quick detection of difficult to diagnose network issues that are impacting clock accuracy - such as clock traffic bottlenecks, and low-performance external word clocks.
The inclusion of a redundant network connection provides visibility of primary and secondary networks at all times. Redundant devices can still be seen and managed via the secondary network in the event of a problem with primary network connectivity, and the user can receive real-time notifications about connectivity status on both primary and secondary networks.
A new preset system exposes XML-based network configuration presets for use in off-line configuration tools. This simplifies the setting up of new networks, and the reconfiguration of existing networks. Audinate says this is ‘ideal for integrators, and large multi-use end-user networks’. Presets have been enhanced to enable simpler switching between standard configurations and special event configurations, and a new channel grouping capability allows for the viewing and configuring of large numbers of devices channels – in groups of 16. Each group can be expanded then collapsed when set-up is complete.
